Honestly, I have to agree. While I don't mind fics involving the girls, not everything needs to revolve around them.

Having some time and space and stories away from the core of the show is kind of refreshing, so long as the characters are written with the same level of consistency as is usually given to the mane 6, and the writers do their best to avoid marysue/waifu territory.

Check the receiver and barrel of the shotgun, the name of the manufacturer should be in at least one of those places, model as well.

The same will generally be true of most rifles.

The receiver is essentially the body of the gun in case you were not aware.
